There are some confusion when Nokia and Intel announced MeeGo, which will replace the Maemo. But certainly, there will be many advantages from MeeGo, such as support for portrait display, Ovi Store, Intel App Store & compatibility with Qt and UI framework. Considering MeeGo & Maemo based Linux, MeeGo will be similar to Android that developed by Google, at least in terms of applications name and work systems.
